How can I make frozen vegetables taste good?
I am not much of a veggie eater and they always go bad before I get around to making them. I started buying frozen vegetables but am not sure the best way to prepare them. They come unseasoned in a bag. I am afraid they will be really mushy. Is there a way to cook them where they taste good? Can I use a steamer basket for them as opposed to boiling them in water? I don’t want to boil away the nutrients. What seasonings will work well with frozen veggies? Salt and Pepper or something else?

They have already lost tons of nutrients by being frozen. Try using them in a stir fry and next time go with fresh veggies
I think they taste TONS better using a steamer basket versus boiling or microwaving them. Steaming them prevents them from being so mushy. I’ve never really seasoned them with anything but salt…sometimes butter.
Yes, you can use a steamer basket for your veggies. If you steam them for about ten minutes, check if done by tasting.
To perk them up, add some melted butter with one of the following seasonings:
chives
tarragon
rosemary
basil
Mrs. Dash
You can add the salt and pepper after you’ve tasted them to see what they need. Good luck and enjoy!
Frozen vegatables have all the goodness frozen in………Fresh vegatables are going stale from the moment they are picked………Cook vegetables fast from frozen and season if required.
those bamboo steamer basket things that fit on top of a saucepan are the bomb ^_^…
nowhere did anyone say you cant steam vegies.
hell you can even put them in a microwaveable plastic container with a lid (placed on so the steam can lift it no effort) with a little water and nuke ‘em for like 4-5mins.
personally I think boiling is the single dumbest idea for some vegies I can think of.
I can’t remember I time I didn’t like steamed brocolli and carrot and bok choy and… so on lol
You can cook them with pasta or add them to a pie filling. I also love to just grate cheddar cheese over them and pop them under the grill. Goes with any seasoning you can think of.
Put them in a saucepan of boiling water, add some salt when boiling. When finished season them with some black pepper and chilli powder.
Boil them.
I buy frozen veggeies too. I agree that using a steamer is better then boiling. Not all vegetables will require the same amount of time for steaming so follow the directions on the package.
I always add garlic, a little salt, pepper and some butter. You can using lemon pepper on broccoli – it is wonderful! I also will use oregano on green beans. McKormick makes a great garlic and herb seasoning, I use that a lot!
a steamer will work, frozen veggies taste better cooked to crisp tender, not mushy………i season them in several ways, but my kids really like it when i season it with butter and worcestershire , it gives it a little terriyaki flavor, you can stir fry frozen veggies with some chopped garlic and ginger and little soy……..or just go with a little butter and salt and pepper
steam them and maybe dip them in one of your favorite dipping sauces. ranch dressing is a good one or maybe melted cheese. i don’t use any seasoning on my veggies.
