What fruits and vegetables are safe for dogs to eat?
Does anyone know of any good websites or books on dog nutrition? My dogs love most fruits and vegetables but I always worry that some might not be good for them.
Also I know not to feed the grapes or apple seeds.

Interesting list. Surprised about garlic, as it’s often used to make Vet recommended liver cake.
I had as a companion a marvellous dog who had a real passion for fruit and vegetables. At the time I was seeing the daughter of a greengrocer and my beloved Ria would walk the three miles from where I lived to this girl’s dad’s shop, and then she would raid it. She was a canine shop lifter, with a lot of nerve. Once she had finished helping herself, she would wait for them to drive her back to my place. During one raid she was are an entire box of tomatoes.

sorry i couldn’t list them all, there are a LOT. however, all the fruits/vegetables that are toxic to dogs are listed on that page. Good luck! hope i helped.
Altho my maltese used to eat peaches from the tree I have since found they were toxic to some dogs. You are smart in wanting to research this.
Carrots, Peas, Tomatoes, Oranges, Apples, and such are alal ok for them. I would have added potatos but if there is a problem of the spine or HD then anything growing IN the earth is not good.
About.com has lots of useful information.
Good Luck

I don’t think you should too many raisins, it gives them the runs
No apple seeds??? Yikes! I always give my dog the whole core when I am done with my apples. She loves them. She hasnt had any problems. She also eats grapes all the time.
usually safe for most dogs- banana, apple, carrot, green beans, peas, lettuce, celery, pumpkin
NOT safe for dogs-raisins, grapes, chocolate, garlic, mushrooms, olives, onions
NEVER give your dog onion or garlic….it can kill them
Your dogs can have just about any fruit or vegetable- the only things they cant have are grapes, raisins, apple seeds (but the main part is ok), no peach pits, cherry pits etc, no onions. Other than that you are pretty safe. Mine love tomatoes, carrots, and bananas. Just dont over do it because you can cause her to have diarrhea. Hope they enjoy!
My puppy LOVES apples (no peel or core), snap/snow peas (including the pod), and carrots.
Fruits/veggies that my dog gets on occasion are baby carrots, apple slices, oranges, romaine lettuce, and dried seaweed (like used in sushi).
This website lists things that you should avoid giving because they are toxic to dogs:
